Fall movie season is just getting started, and it’s already been quite busy for me. Beyond Fest is still underway, and I’ve attended several exciting screenings at the annual film festival, including: Scent of a Woman with Martin Brest and Al Pacino, Hoffa with Danny DeVito, a double feature of Beverly Hills Cop and the…
I squeezed in a ton of movies in August, between TCM’s annual Summer Under the Stars festival and plenty of repertory screenings, most of which were at the Academy Museum for their special VistaVision series! It felt like a mini TCM film festival as they programmed more than a dozen films over the course of…
July was filled with plenty of cool screenings, from The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm to Robert Rodriguez performing music from his movies and more at the Academy Museum. But the big highlight for me was the week Wes Anderson was in town, first for a 30th anniversary screening of Bottle Rocket at the Academy Museum…
June was filled with more re-watches than movies I hadn’t seen before, but there was plenty I enjoyed, both new and old. The month began with the American Cinematheque’s annual Bleak Week programming, wherein I saw The Piano Teacher and Heaven’s Gate with Isabelle Huppert, A.I. Artificial Intelligence with Haley Joel Osment, and Midsommar and…
A month has passed since the 17th TCM Classic Film Festival, my sixth time attending the annual event in person! As I’ve done in past years, a few weeks after TCMFF ended, here’s my full recap of the fest from my point of view…
May was quite the eventful month, and I’m not just talking about the fact that the first three days were filled with screenings for the TCM Classic Film Festival! Along with TCMFF, I attended a few red carpet premieres throughout the month, including for Backrooms and Obsession. I also went to a triple feature of…
April was another exciting month, kicking off with the Noir City film festival and ending with the start of the TCMFF! Today is actually the first full day of the fest, so I’m keeping this wrap-up relatively brief. But some special screening highlights of the month include The Long Goodbye with Elliott Gould, Zodiac with…
It’s nearly time for my favorite annual event, the TCM Classic Film Festival! The 17th edition officially kicks off a week from today, and it’ll be my sixth time attending the fest. As usual, there are always a few tough choices to make between what movies to see and events to go to, but in…
March was a memorable month; not only did I celebrate another birthday, but I also got to attend the red carpet for the Academy Awards, a truly unforgettable experience! Movie-wise, I had incredibly fortunate opportunities to finally check out two movies that had been on my watchlist for many years but couldn’t see because of…
Oscar Sunday is nearly upon us! It’s sure to be an exciting ceremony, with a lot of the major categories seeming to be not as easy to predict as usual. It’ll be an especially thrilling time for me, as I was randomly selected by the Academy Museum to attend the Oscars Red Carpet Fan Experience!…
February was a jam-packed month with all the FYC screenings happening around town at the height of awards season. I was lucky to attend quite a few, including with Oscar-nominated stars Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Benicio del Toro (One Battle After Another), Delroy Lindo (Sinners), Stellan Skarsgård (Sentimental Value), Jacob…
It was a pretty good start to a new year of movie-watching. Some highlights from my theater experiences in January included Bugonia with Jesse Plemons (in conversation with Adam Scott), Sentimental Value with Joachim Trier and Eskil Vogt, Song Sung Blue with Kate Hudson (in conversation with Zooey Deschanel), and The Moment with Aidan Zamiri…
It was another great year in movie-going in Los Angeles and beyond (from the comforts of home to the streets of New York!). I ended up seeing more than 300 films on the big screen, which was a lot more than last year’s tally. What can I say, I love seeing movies in movie theaters!…
Happy New Year! December was a bittersweet month, as I reflected a lot on the screen legends we lost this past year through the films I watched in the last days of 2025. I’m eternally grateful we have their films to enjoy, and it was great to revisit some of their work, as well as…
A good mix of movies this past month, between watching films for Noirvember and catching new releases, whether it was seeing them for the first time or revisiting them once again. I’m a little late in getting this monthly wrap-up post up, so I won’t go into some of the highlights of November, but as…
