July was a great month at the movies, with the most-anticipated movie event of the year “Barbenheimer” in the middle of the month. I didn’t see Barbie and Oppenheimer on the same day, but I did watch the movies within 24 hours of each other on back-to-back days, so I basically still got in on…
I saw a good mix of movies in June, from new releases to old favorites and other films in between. However, I’m keeping this post brief and won’t go into detail about some of this past month’s highlights, as I’m about to head off to spend the day at Disneyland! So without further ado, here’s…
May was another satisfying month of movie-watching both in theaters and at home, plus one of my favorites that I had the great pleasure of seeing at the majestic Walt Disney Concert Hall: Psycho, with the orchestra playing Bernard Herrmann’s iconic score live. Other than that, one of my favorite theater trips this past month…
It’s been about a month now since the conclusion of this year’s edition of the TCM Classic Film Festival. It was another wonderful, unique experience that I’ve finally put aside some time to write about. As I did with the previous times I attended the in-person fest, I’m recapping everything from my point of view…
As usual, I mostly focused my attention in April on the four-day TCM Classic Film Festival. It was another memorable time watching movies with fellow classic film fans, and I plan to post a full recap of my experience in the coming days. You can probably figure out what I saw during the fest, or…
I didn’t watch as many movies in March as I usually do in a month. That’s partially due to both of my sisters visiting me for a week to celebrate both the Oscars and my birthday. Though for my actual birthday (which they weren’t in town for yet), I spent it watching Mon oncle at…
The TCM Classic Film Festival begins in just two weeks, and my anticipation continues to grow as we get closer. While I have the great luxury of going to repertory screenings all the time living in Los Angeles, there’s still nothing like watching movies at TCMFF, and I’m excited to attend the beloved fest for…
Happy Oscar Sunday! It’s been a pretty exciting awards season, with several movies I enjoyed last year getting some well-deserved recognition, so much so that there are quite a few races that aren’t as easy to predict as usual as we head into the Oscars. This year though I won’t be glued to my TV…
As expected, I did more movie-watching related to this Oscar season in February, which included several screenings with this year’s nominees, all thanks to the American Cinematheque: Sir Roger Deakins; Martin McDonagh, Colin Farrell, and Brendan Gleeson; Brendan Fraser; and Paul Mescal. On top of seeing those Oscar nominees at the Aero, I also got…
This past month as far as movie-watching goes was a good way to kick off 2023. As usual, I watched some awards contenders, which included catching up with the remaining movies that just earned Oscar nominations in the acting categories (and elsewhere) that I hadn’t seen yet. There are at least a couple of other…
