After all the excitement from the TCM Classic Film Festival in April, my moviegoing in May was a little more chill. I did attend a few cool screenings throughout the month, including 50th anniversary screenings at the Egyptian of Nashville with stars Keith Carradine and Ronee Blakley, and Cooley High with director Michael Schultz and stars Glynn Turman and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (and that Q&A was moderated by Robert Townsend!). And just a few days ago, I saw Goldie Hawn before a screening of The Sugarland Express at the Academy Museum! Along with all the special guests I saw in person, there were also several movies I finally got around to watching for the first time, and enjoying them on the big screen. Summer is just around the corner, and the repertory theaters I frequent here have some fun programming in store from what I’ve seen so far, so it should be an exciting time at the movies.
