Films in 2025: April

As usual, April was a jam-packed month, mostly thanks to the annual TCM Classic Film Festival! It was another fantastic weekend in Hollywood, and I’m still sort of recovering from all the excitement that commenced a few days ago. I’ll write up a separate post on my TCMFF experience before the month ends. Before all that, I went to several fun screenings around town, including The Big Lebowski with Jeff Bridges, The Shrouds with David Cronenberg, and Marjorie Prime with Michael Almereyda and Geena Davis. I also went to a few screenings during the American Cinematheque’s This Is Not a Fiction series, such as a double feature of Gates of Heaven and Vernon, Florida with Errol Morris and Bill Hader, Documentary Now! 10th anniversary celebration with Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, and I Know Catherine, The Log Lady with Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost and star Kyle MacLachlan. And I saw Kyle MacLachlan at a double feature at Vidiots in Eagle Rock of two of his movies: Dune and The Flintstones. Overall, it was a great month spent mostly revisiting movies I hadn’t seen in some time, along with a few discoveries. So here’s a look at everything I watched over the past month…
