March was a memorable month; not only did I celebrate another birthday, but I also got to attend the red carpet for the Academy Awards, a truly unforgettable experience! Movie-wise, I had incredibly fortunate opportunities to finally check out two movies that had been on my watchlist for many years but couldn’t see because of how widely unavailable they are: Porgy and Bess and Last Summer, both of which I got to see in a theater, which I never dreamed of happening. For Porgy and Bess, I went to one of the limited screenings at the Vista from a film print personally owned by Quentin Tarantino. And for Last Summer, it was the world premiere of a new restoration spearheaded by Larry Karaszewski, who moderated a special Q&A with stars Barbara Hershey and Bruce Davison at the screening. There were several more great screenings I got to see over the past month, including seeing some old favorites on the big screen for the first time, but those two aforementioned viewings were the big standouts for March. With that said, here’s a peek at what else I watched…
