It was a pretty good start to a new year of movie-watching. Some highlights from my theater experiences in January included Bugonia with Jesse Plemons (in conversation with Adam Scott), Sentimental Value with Joachim Trier and Eskil Vogt, Song Sung Blue with Kate Hudson (in conversation with Zooey Deschanel), and The Moment with Aidan Zamiri and Charli xcx! The Academy Museum also programmed a special series honoring David Lynch a year after his passing, around what would’ve also been his 80th birthday, which included screenings of Blue Velvet, introduced by Kyle MacLachlan, and Inland Empire and Wild at Heart, both introduced by Laura Dern. Outside of the special guests, I also saw a few of my favorite films on the big screen for the first time, including The Hot Rock, My Darling Clementine, and Gattaca.
