TCM’s 31 Days of Oscar 2014 – Week One

For the next few weeks, I’ll be posting a weekly schedule of TCM’s 31 Days of Oscar every Friday. This is more for me to keep track of when the films I’m interested in seeing and revisiting are playing (most of which I’m probably going to catch on Watch TCM if they’re available there anyway). So that would explain why I’m practically copying down every film from the schedule…I tried to narrow it down though! There are just too many quality films airing this month, and I’m looking forward to seeing them. I also included every Best Picture nominee that I haven’t seen yet, so that also explains why I didn’t limit the number of films listed. Also included are the showings of the new documentary about Oscar history, which I marked like this so it won’t be missed!

To kick off this year’s 31 Days of Oscar, TCM will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of Hollywood’s greatest year in film (unlike this year’s Oscars ceremony…ahem)! So I decided to include all the films listed for tomorrow because it was indeed a spectacular year, and each Best Picture nominee for the year 1939 is worth checking out. On February 4th, TCM will be showing a number of films that were nominated or won Best Foreign Language Film, so I listed all of them because I’d eventually like to see them all…

All times listed are Central, so be sure to check your local listings and visit TCM’s website for additional information. And of course, let me know if there are any films this week that I should add to my watchlist asap, or if there’s a film missing on here from TCM’s schedule that I should see. Films marked with an asterisk are ones I’ve seen before that I recommend checking out!
