Happy New Year! I’m excited to see what 2025 has in store, movie-wise… but first a quick recap of my last month of 2024 in movie-watching, which included some more great screenings with special guests, such as Will & Harper with Will Ferrell and Harper Steele; The Piano Lesson with filmmaker Malcolm Washington; The Order with Justin Kurzel, Jude Law, and Jurnee Smollett; Ray with Taylor Hackford and Jamie Foxx; The Last Showgirl with Gia Coppola and Pamela Anderson; Stir of Echoes with David Koepp and Kevin Bacon; Nickel Boys with RaMell Ross and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor; and a double feature of A Different Man and The Apprentice with Sebastian Stan. And with the holiday season, I rewatched several old favorites, including a double feature of It’s a Wonderful Life and It Happened on Fifth Avenue, Eyes Wide Shut, and Die Hard, all screened in 35mm at the New Beverly (where it’s always on film!). Anyway, I’ll post a little film year in review in the coming days, but until then, here’s a look at everything else I watched in December…
